2011 Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics Taipei Await Global Buyers with Great Business Opportunities

Taipei (December 10) – The 2011 Taipei International Auto Parts & Accessories Show (AMPA) and Taipei International Automobile Electronics Show (AutoTronics) are scheduled to be jointly held at the TWTC NANGANG Exhibition Hall on April 12-15, 2011. A total of 1,100 companies from eleven countries have registered for the fairs with 2,800 booths to be installed. The number of registrations grew by 10% from the previous year. The exhibitions will also feature Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, South Korea and China Pavilions, making the 2011 fairs the most internationalized in the shows’ history.

The 2011 Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics exhibitions will focus on three sectors, Applications of Automotive LEDs, Automotive Safety and Security, and New Energy for Automobiles, showing Taiwanese manufacturers’ innovation strength to global buyers. Taiwan’s automotive parts industry has been known for its advantaged strength to offer high-quality aftermarket (AM) products at a reasonable price. With increasingly improved manufacturing capability, Taiwanese companies have in recent years started to supply original equipment (OE) products directly to international automobile manufacturers or first-tier suppliers such as Robert Bosch GmbH and Magna Powertrain. Such a change signifies Taiwanese manufacturers’ continuous efforts in seeking improvements to make products better.

Australia has been one of the close trading partners for Taiwan in the automotive parts market. Statistics by Taiwan’s Customs showed that in 2009 Australia was Taiwan’s fifth largest export market for automotive parts with an export value reaching US$12 million, accounting for 2.79% of the total export value. The number placed Australia next only to the US (37.21%), Japan (5.86%), China (4.78%) and Germany (3.02%), and indicated the close trading relation between Taiwan and Australia. For the 2010 Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics exhibitions, Australia also ranked ninth among the visiting countries in terms of the number of visitors. The figure suggested Australia’s great demand for Taiwan’s automotive parts as well as the appeal of Taiwan’s products to Australian buyers.

According to the statistics from 2007 to 2009 in total, Taiwan ranked tenth in Australia’s list of import countries for automotive parts. In 2009, import from Taiwan accounted for around 3% of Australia’s total annual import value. Australia’s primary imports from Taiwan were miscellaneous aftermarket replacement parts for passenger vehicles, including parts for automotive bodies and wheels, all of which were among the import requests of Australia’s automotive parts industry. Supply of aftermarket replacement parts and accessories has been the most attractive specialty of exhibitors at the Taipei AMPA and AutoTronics shows, meeting exactly the demand of Australian buyers. As a result, more and more Australian visitors are eager to visit the two co-located trade shows. In 2010, the number of Australian visitors had a salient 60.58% growth in comparison with the number in 2009.

As Asia’s most professional trade show for automotive parts and accessories, Taipei AMPA will mark its 27th anniversary this year and set a brand new record for a greater scale than ever. AutoTronics Taipei, entering its sixth year in 2011, has been the pioneering forerunner among the trade shows of the same category. The joint exhibitions are expected to offer international buyers an opportunity for one-stop procurement, and allow them to experience the industrial innovation of Taiwan and to bring the most fruitful results.
