    logoMetalloobrabotka is the largest in Eastern Europe and the CIS trade show of global machine tool industry and state-of-the-art metalworking technology.

    This year, the participation of a large number of major players in the global industrial market has enabled the show to keep its position in the world’s top ten leading machine tool trade shows.

    Metalloobrabotka 2021 showcased cutting-edge developments of Russian and foreign manufacturers of machine tool products. Both newcomers and regular exhibitors – the largest Russian and global machine tool enterprises and their customers – took part in the exhibition.

    The official opening ceremony was attended by Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov, First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship and First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Engineering Union Vladimir Gutenev, Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Military-Industrial Commission of the Russian Federation Oleg Bochkarev, Chairman of the Organising Committee of NTI Expo and Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Vladimir Kononov, Vice-President of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Maksim Fateev, Director of the Industrial Development Fund Roman Petrutsa, President of Stankoinstrument Association Georgy Samodurov, and Director General of EXPOCENTRE AO Aleksey Vyalkin.

    Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov:

    “A wide range of exhibitors and the exhibition’s international status show not only the demand for machine-tool products in the Russian market, but also the growth of the industry's investment potential for Russian and foreign partners. The exhibition features Russian developments in the field of metalworking equipment, components, and an extensive range of tools.”

    Secretary General of the SWISSMEM Swiss Association of Industrial Equipment Manufacturers Christoph Blättler also attended the opening ceremony:

    “Metalloobrabotka at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds is without doubt the most important technology trade show for metalworking in the Russian Federation. I am proud that the Swiss metalworking industry, even in the most difficult times, has an important place in this showcase.”

    The special guests of Metalloobrabotka got acquainted with stands of Russian manufacturers and highly appreciated the level and quality of the exhibited equipment. According to them, the exhibition reflects the state of the machine tool industry presenting advanced solutions and designs, which are implemented in products and applied by end users.

    Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin visited the pavilions of Russian machine tool builders at Metalloobrabotka 2021 to get acquainted with innovative products of Russian companies. In particular, the prime minister was interested in the equipment made by a manufacturer of lathes and milling machines. The head of the Russian government saw advanced machine tools and industrial solutions of STAN Group, Kalashnikov Group, Delta-Test, Stankoprom, Sasta, and other Russian companies. Mr. Mishustin was briefed on new developments and discussed their innovativeness and prospects for implementation in the industry.

For many years, it has been attracting visitors from all over the world and is considered to be one of the most important industrial shows in Russia. Restarting the industry after the pandemic crisis is an important goal that we can only achieve together. Today it is particularly important to choose the right business partners in order to successfully meet the new challenges. Switzerland and Russia have been successfully cooperating for many years.”

    Show highlights

    New developments and solutions were showcased in the Additive Manufacturing, Robotics, Welding and Related Technologies, and Surface Treatment Equipment and Technology product sectors. Investment and innovation projects of the Russian participants were presented to potential investors and partners.

    A new unique sector, Industry 4.0, brought together leaders of digital transformation for the metalworking industry and young promising startups.

    The Skolkovo Foundation arranged two group stands with innovating projects in the Additive Technologies and Industry 4.0 sectors. Geomera, TermoLazer, and New Dispersed Materials showed their technologies in the Industry 4.0 pavilion. Additive manufacturing and 3D printing technology were showcased in the Industry 3D pavilion. Different projects, installations and products were demonstrated by F2 Innovations, Creation, Stereotech, Onsint, Novaprint 3D, and 3D-Meduza.

    As usual, the exhibition paid a lot of attention to vocational education and training of highly qualified personnel for the machine tool industry. The large Science and Vocational Education section presented 18 of Russia’s leading universities, which not only showcased their new developments but also took part in the exhibition’s conference programme.

    The Employment Centre gave information about current job offers of exhibiting companies, posted CVs, and offered professional career development consultations.

    Feedback of the exhibitors and visitors to Metalloobrabotka 2021 confirms the show’s success and relevance.

    Conference programme

    One of the most important events for the Russian metalworking industry in 2020 was the adoption of the Development Strategy for the Machine Tool Industry for the Period to 2035. This year’s conference programme of Metalloobrabotka was, among other things, devoted to the implementation of this strategy.

    The conference programme of Metalloobrabotka 2021 opened with the Forum on the Prospects and Mechanisms for Implementing the Machine Tool Industry Strategy. It was organised by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, EXPOCENTRE AO, and the Industrial Project Management Centre.

    Its plenary meeting was devoted to the Potential of Russian Manufacturers within the Implementation of the Development Strategy for the Russian Machine Tool Industry. Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Mikhail Ivanov spoke about the measures of state support for the industry. He stressed that, according to the development strategy for the machine tool industry adopted last year, the production volume to be tripled by 2035, and the export volume by five times. Director of the Industrial Development Fund Roman Petrutsa noted that since the fund had been established six years ago, more than six hundred companies received money to create new products, new production facilities and new technology. CEO of STAN Denis Polevschikov said that his company had managed to adapt to the global difficulties of the last year and ended the year 2020 with growth in key indicators.

    On the same day, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, EXPOCENTRE AO and the Industrial Project Management Centre arranged the Conference on the Current Development Level of the Russian Toolmaking Industry and New Metalworking Solutions.

    The Conference on Technologies and Equipment of the Russian Machine Tool Building Industry for Technical Upgrade of Russian Machine Building Enterprises generated a lot of interest among industry professionals. The event was organised by Stanki-Expo with support of EXPOCENTRE AO.

    The Industry 4.0 sector featured a conference on its main topic. It was organised by the National Union of Suppliers of Equipment and Tools for Metalworking and EXPOCENTRE AO. Industry experts discussed trends in automation of metalworking production and the role of artificial intelligence, demonstrated modern technical and software solutions, and shared practical experience in implementing innovations in manufacturing.

    The next Metalloobrabotka will be held at EXPOCENTRE Fairgrounds, Moscow, Russia, on 23–27 May 2022.
