UBM Intermodal India 2012 road show ended on impeccable style
Mumbai, September, 4, 2012: UBM India successfully organized an INTERMODAL INDIA 2012 road show on Friday 31st August 2012 at The Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. This show is a gateway to the main event INTERMODAL INDIA 2012’ organized by UBM India to be held on 25th-27th September 2012 at The Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre ,Mumbai.
The event witnessed presence of eminent experts and leaders across the logistics industry who presented their thoughts on the challenges, opportunities and overall outlook of this sector. Mr. Hemant. B. Bhattbhatt presented his thoughts on Intermodal Connectivity which is the movement of goods, in one and the same loading unit or a vehicle, by successive modes of transport, without handling of the goods themselves when changing modes. Apart from cost and time savings, it results in greater efficiencies, opens new trade corridors, and is environment friendly. Challenges that plague the Indian Intermodal logistics sector today are reduction of friction costs, lack of technical interoperability between modes, unequal levels of modal performance and service quality. He also threw light on methods to overcome the above mentioned challenges by planning an optimal/balanced chain reaction, structuring the financial interests of the stakeholder, implementation of service level standards and promoting an electronic web-based Logistics Exchange. Capt. Gautama enlighten the areas related to Infrastructure, Process & Legislation for the Industry and how to leverage the current state to maximum advantage. Mr. Bhadkamkar touched upon Conciliation, PPP & Infrastructure and Developing the SME segment of the Industry. Deugro’s Mr. Singh shared about Air Freight and other key aspects of the Industry. Commenting on this occasion Mr. Sanjeev Khaira- Managing Director of UBM said, the logistics industry is the unsung hero of many a growing economy. The economy is expected to bounce back and resume its high growth trajectory. With increasing competition and cost, focus on outsourcing, entry of foreign players is having positive impact on the industry. Indian logistics players are now looking for cost-effective logistics solutions.”
