  • China Makes World-First 3D Blood Vessel Bio Printer

    More medical experts are now taking advantage of 3D printing technology.

    A biotechnological firm in China has recently announced it has made the world's first three-dimensional blood vessel bio-printer, allowing the possibility of producing personalized, functional organs.

    According to the Chengdu-based Sichuan Revotek Co. Ltd., the milestone was achieved through the company's own stem cell bio-ink technology, its self-developed 3D bio-printer and cloud computing platform.

    Yang Keng, the chairman of the group's mother firm, Sichuan Languang Development Co. Ltd., remarked that its subsidiary's "creative breakthrough in the 3D blood vessel bio-printing means [they] have mastered the stem cell-based 3D bio-printing technology."

    James Kang, the program's chief expert, noted the importance of blood vessels, citing that they are the ones who transport the nutrients to the human body's organs.

    Kang further stated that these body components are essential in creating any organ.

    The expert also revealed the technique they used to unlock the technology. "We have successfully realized the blood vessel regeneration by relying on the 3D bio-printer, the biosynsphere technology and the data model based on cloud computing," he remarked.

    Meanwhile, the firm also announced that they are willing to recruit more talent to help them develop more cutting-edge medical technologies.

    Asked about how the companies' breakthroughs will be applied, officials stated that they are open and are seeking international cooperation.

    This year, the 3D printing sector has received significant boost from the government. Earlier in September, a China Economic Net report said that Chinese authorities are poised to develop the technology in line with the country's "Made in China 2025" initiative.

    This endeavor aims to utilize the 3D printing technology in manufacturing, apart from the fields where it is already employed such as medical care, defense, geography and consumer electronics.
